Tamid Photo Essay in Lego® #20

The Shot

Bordeaux, Monsieur?

The Memuneh looks on as Yonasan the Levi collects the wine for the nesachim of the Tamid offering.

The Story

Different types of sacrifices were accompanied by various nesachim - other items offered in the Beis Hamikdash along with the meat. The Tamid offering came along with a wine libation and a flour offering, and the ingredients for both of these were taken from the Chamber of the Oils, located in southwestern corner of the Ezras Nashim. This large, open-air chamber primarily contained oil (hence the name), but also stored flour and wine.

The Setup

This shot is modeled and rendered in Bricklink Studio with depth of field added in Photoshop (read more about this process in my introduction). For the casks and jugs and barrel carts I tried to use every brown shade Studio has to offer. The wine corner of this chamber is staffed by connoisseurs who you can recognize by their carefully manicured moustaches, and they oversee the storage and distribution of the wines.

In the image below you will see plates here and there in the floor that are cropped out of the final shot. I use those as positioning spots in Bricklink Studio where I can, for example, autosnap a minifig in place so that his feet are right at floor level and then use the movement arrows to slide him across the floor into his final position. It is much harder to do this directly on the tile floor since there are no studs for his feet to autosnap onto.

The cute little barrel carts use just a handful of pieces, the best one being the bent skeleton arm (93609) that holds everything together.

Here the Memuneh balances precariously on the step where he is seated. His legs sit obediently in front of him while his torso is boosted up by two plates.
