Nine Days Wrap Up for 2026

I am in the process of importing my 3D model of the Beis Hamikdash into the Unity game engine to create an app that will allow the user to explore the entire Beis Hamikdash. For a few of my Nine Days programs this year I showed a fuller preview of the Unity Beis Hamikdash.

In this short clip, the viewer begins in the Beis Hamoked on the northern side of the Azarah. After passing through the Song Gate that leads into the Azarah, we walk through the butchering area, past the Leviim standing on the duchan, and up to the top of the Mizbeyach. Many of the models are not textured yet, and even some of the textures are not quite optimized yet, but you can get a general sense of the scale of things.

I often leave my audience with a 3D printed model of the Beis Hamikdash to help them remember the topic and to arouse their curiosity about the structure and function of this holy site. After finishing the virtual walkthrough at Camp Torah n’ Trips in Baltimore, MD, we recreated the payis (lottery system used daily in the Beis Hamikdash) to determine the lucky winner who would take home the 3D printed model!
