Cutting the OmerChol Hamoed Pesach 5785

Most people are familiar with counting the Omer, but back in the days of the Beis Hamikdash they would also cut the Omer.

Right after the first day of Pesach was over, a delegation would head out into a nearby barley field at night with great fanfare to harvest some of the standing grain. The kernels were brought to the Beis Hamikdash and processed into flour, some of which was offered on the Mizbeyach the next morning as the Korban Haomer. With the offering of the Omer, all new grain that had been harvested since the previous Pesach became permitted for consumption.
