Tamid Photo Essay in Lego® #5

The Shot

The Key Chain

The Memuneh retrieves a key from beneath a floor tile.

The Story

You are here
The keys for the doors of the Beis Hamikdash were kept on a chain that hung beneath a tile in the floor of the Beis Hamoked. One of the Kohanim in the Beis Hamoked would sleep on this tile to keep the keys safe during the night. Each morning the Memuneh would retrieve the key that opened a small door in the southern wall of the Beis Hamoked that led out into the Azarah.

The Setup

This shot is modeled and rendered in Bricklink Studio with depth of field added in Photoshop. Just used the default light here. This building has four smaller rooms in the corners, and I removed one of them to get the camera into the scene. The greebles along the top of the wall at the top right of the image were some tests I was doing for decoration. One of my favorite bricks to use as a wall lamp is the Mining Helmet, placed upside-down and attached to a 1x2 technic brick in the wall. The stairs on the back wall will lead up to a second level, not shown here. There are brown 1x1 tiles above the stairs representing the blocks of wood in the walls that divided between the kodesh and chol sides of the room.

  1. Are you old enough to be familiar with the view master toy? These shots in the view master in 3d would be wild. Of course you'd have to find a view master first.
Your work is impressive and fun for my whole family.
